Overview

About Threefold

A 6×6 fusion puzzle with roguelike Rules: drag gems, fuse three alike into one, and chain the fusions before the bag runs dry.

Drag a gem from your hand of three onto the board. Three alike gems touching fuse into one gem of the next tier, right where you placed it, and every extra step in the chain multiplies the score. Clear each round's target before the bag of gems runs out, then draft one Rule that bends how the board scores. Build a run around the Rules you pick.

Gameplay

How it plays

  1. Drag a gem from your hand of three onto any empty cell.
  2. Three alike gems touching fuse into one gem of the next tier, where you placed it.
  3. Fusions chain, and every step in the chain multiplies the score.
  4. Reach the round's target before the bag of gems is empty.
  5. After each round, draft one of three Rules that change how the board scores.

Depth

What makes runs different

  • Fuse now for points, or place a low gem as the foundation for a longer chain next turn.
  • Rules interact and order matters: cascade builds, corner builds, sparse-board builds, bomb builds.
  • A hand of three plus discards means a loss is rarely bad luck alone.

FAQ

Common questions

Is there a time limit?

No. Threefold is turn-based. Take as long as you like over every gem.

What ends a run?

Missing a round's target once the bag of gems is empty, or filling the board so that no gem can be placed. The board stays on screen so you can see what happened.

How do I learn the rules?

Settings → How to play replays the introduction. The Codex lists all 21 Rules and shows which you have unlocked.

Where is my progress stored?

Progress, records, unlocks, the saved run and the sound/haptics settings are stored on the device only (UserDefaults and the app's own Application Support folder). Deleting the app deletes them. x3r0soft never receives them. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I reset?

Settings → Reset progress clears records, unlocks and any saved run; sound and haptics settings are kept.
