Overview

About Shove

A pocket tactics roguelike with one verb: swipe to step, step into anything to shove it, and let walls, pits and spikes do the damage.

Swipe to step. Step into an enemy and you shove it. Nothing you do deals damage directly: you hurt things by slamming them into walls, pits, spikes, barrels and each other. Enemies show exactly where they will strike next turn, so every hit you take is one you could have seen coming. Clear the floor, pick a Trick, go down.

Gameplay

How it plays

  1. Swipe in a direction to step. Swiping into a unit shoves it one cell.
  2. Shoved units take damage from walls, pits, spikes, barrels and other units, never from you directly.
  3. Enemies mark the cells they will strike next turn. Stand somewhere else.
  4. Clear every enemy on the floor, then draft one of three Tricks.
  5. Go down. Deeper floors bring new enemy types.

Depth

What makes runs different

  • Which reachable square is safe when the enemies strike, and can an enemy be made to do your work?
  • Tricks chain: Domino, Heavy Hands, Pull and Momentum change what a shove does.
  • A shoved grunt or archer loses its planned strike; brutes never budge.

FAQ

Common questions

Why did I take damage?

Every enemy marks the cells it will strike next turn before you move. The cell you were standing on was marked. Shoving a grunt or an archer cancels its strike; brutes and bombers keep theirs.

How do I deal damage?

You never hit directly. Shove enemies into walls, pits, spikes, barrels or each other; the slam does the damage.

Can I undo a move?

No. Each swipe is a turn. Use wait to let enemies come to you.

Where is my progress stored?

Progress, records, unlocks, the saved run and the sound/haptics settings are stored on the device only (UserDefaults and the app's own Application Support folder). Deleting the app deletes them. x3r0soft never receives them. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I reset?

Settings → Reset progress clears records, unlocks and any saved run; sound and haptics settings are kept.
