Gameplay overview

Read the grid. Answer the wave.

Tower defense built for quick reads: placement, upgrades, specialization, and fusion — each layer adds tactical depth without clutter.

Tower placement

Place angular defense towers on buildable grid cells along enemy paths. Read ranges and coverage before each wave.

Waves

Enemies follow fixed routes through the sector. Preview wave composition, adapt between waves, and earn in-level energy for placements.

Upgrades

Spend in-battle energy on tier upgrades during a sector. Earn Cores from play to fund permanent upgrade tracks on the meta tree.

Specialization

At tier 3, each of the six tower families splits into two specialization branches — choose a tactical identity per family.

Fusion

From sector 21, combine two eligible towers into cross-family fusion constructs with distinct mechanics.

Campaign progression

100 sectors across 10 chapters with star ratings, replay rewards, Codex entries, and achievements.

Signature mechanic

Tower fusion

From sector 21 onward, eligible towers on adjacent cells merge into cross-family constructs — 15 recipes total, each with its own damage profile and role.

  • Unlock fusion at sector 21 in the campaign.
  • Place two compatible towers from different families on merge-eligible cells.
  • Commit a fusion to replace them with a single specialized construct.
  • Discover recipes through play — the Codex tracks what you have found.
  • Recipes pair families such as Pulse, Rail, Venom, Hex, Gel, and Arc — without spoiling every combination here.

Campaign

100 sectors. Rising pressure.

Ten chapters from Perimeter through Zero Core. Difficulty escalates through enemy composition and map geometry — not hidden stat walls.

10

Chapter arc

10 themed chapters with distinct environmental language and escalating tactical demands.

Boss encounters

Ten chapter boss fights punctuate the campaign — each demands a different answer than standard waves.

23

Enemy roster

Twenty-three enemy archetypes including shields, runners, swarms, and mechanic carriers — readable at a glance via signal colors.

Also in v1

Endless mode (procedural waves) and Daily challenge (one seeded sector per day, unlocks after sector 3) extend play beyond the campaign.

Fair play

Optional purchases, honest design

x3r0TD is designed so purchases save time within shared upgrade caps — not to block campaign progress. Wording here describes product intent, not a legal warranty.

  • No ads in the game
  • No loot boxes or energy timers
  • No account required — progress saved locally on your device
  • Optional Core bundles only — two consumable packs toward the same capped upgrade tree
  • Campaign sectors are designed to be completable without purchasing

FAQ

Common questions

Answers reflect the current v1 binary and App Store posture.

Which devices are supported?

x3r0TD is built for iPhone and requires iOS 26.5 or later. It is not designed for iPad, Mac, or Android in the current release.

Does the game require an account?

No. Progress, settings, and purchase records are stored locally on your device using SwiftData and UserDefaults. There is no x3r0soft login.

Can I play offline?

Yes. The campaign, Endless mode, and Daily challenge are playable offline. An internet connection is only needed for App Store purchases and restore flows handled by Apple.

Are purchases required?

No. The in-game Store offers two optional Core bundles (Core Cache and Core Vault). They can speed up permanent upgrades but do not gate campaign sectors. Automated balance tests run on every build to keep free progression viable.

How do I restore purchases?

Use Store → Restore Purchases or Settings → Restore Purchases while signed into the Apple ID used for the purchase. Consumable Core bundles follow standard App Store policy and do not restore after reinstall — this is disclosed in the Store UI.

How do I contact support?
